Our Summer Road Trip 2013!

We were entertained by "Romancing the Stone" during our flight from Whitehorse to Toronto!

We spent a night in a hotel and then went to pick up Mike's "new" Mustang the next morning!!!

After test driving the Mustang, we had to pick up a hot blond to go with the red leather interior!

Amanda and Brett took us to a great steakhouse for a mouthwatering meal!

Alana met us at the restaurant and came back to Amanda and Brett's for an extended visit :)
Mike, Brett, Amanda and Alana: What a good lookin' bunch!

A techie couple

The next morning: Amanda giving Brett hugs before his work day begins
Amanda took us for a beach walk and...

...then out for breakie :)

Mike's sweet parking spot! We drove Amanda home, said our thank yous and farewells (Although brief, it was such a wonderful visit that should happen more often!), and then continued on to Rockburn, Quebec.
We spent the first evening on the McNally farm visiting with Peter and Joanne! The next morning, Mike and I decided to explore the property!

Mike enjoying the surroundings

Teddy came along for the walk and had a blast barking at the bubbles created by the little waterfalls!
— at Rockburn, Quebec.

This creek runs through their property!

I was simply content taking it all in!

It felt a little like being in a fairy tale!

Mike & I stopped to take a selfy together near the end of their driveway...to help us remember how we felt at that very moment!
Chillaxin' with Peter and Ryan McNally

It's such a classic farm house!
Alas, we had to say our goodbyes, and thank yous for the McNally hospitality... (But we're hoping to see Ryan again soon, back in the Yukon!)

We continued on to Sherbrooke, Quebec to watch Jaylene play soccer in the Canada Games! This was Jay's first game: Yukon vs Alberta.
40 minutes in and Team Yukon was holding on strong! Alberta had only scored 2 goals! They tried their best to keep it up, but it was difficult to maintain that pace against Alberta...

A proud captain!
After the game, Mike and I decided to go party at the laundromat! My sexy hubby waiting for the clothes to dry while listening to a groovin' street band!

So appreciated finding a laundromat on such an entertaining street!
Taking advantage of the spa at our hotel in Orford!

Day 2 for girls soccer @ the Canada Games: Yukon vs Nova Scotia

Jay and the other girls happy to visit with their families after playing their hearts out!

A little father-daughter love after the game! Mike is such a proud papa! (Look at that family resemblance!!!)

We had a surprisingly amazing, mouthwatering meal later that evening!

Back at our hotel!

We pretty much had the pool to ourselves. We'd take a dip in between saunas and hot tubs to cool down!

Mike enjoying one of the hot tubs
Mike using the waterfall from this hot tub to help heal the crooked back he woke up with (Sexy!)

The saunas
Before watching the third game, we had to park the car and get shuttled to the field. (Mike wasn't too keen on leaving his Mustang so far away, all alone...)

Cheering on Team Yukon! Good thing we had the volleyball girls there to help us make some noise!!!
Probably the most difficult game to swallow, but Jay was still standin' tall because she gave it her all!!! We made sure we had a few laughs before saying our good luck, have fun, and farewells

Off to Ottawa: The Yukon shield next to the Centennial Flame
First time standing in front of the parliament building! (Not Mike's though. But he didn't seem to mind playing tourist with me:)

A gorgeous building!

"Let me help you get that."

"Scooch over! I'll just take a seat here next to you."
Reflections from our hotel window

We continued on and stopped briefly in Deep River, Ontario to visit Charlene and Mike Maguire (Keith's parents)!

At the beach firepit, looking toward their house from the river. Beautiful! Such a nice visit, although too short. Next time we will definitely plan to stay longer at the Maguire Resort!!!
Found a pleasantly surprising hotel in Sault St. Marie

A nice spot for us to simply relax!

Mike was determined to find breakfast before we left Sault St. Marie. We hit the gold mine with this place! The waitresses were hoppin'! The cooks were rockin'! The staff was friendly & casual! The food was delicious and abundant! Mike couldn't even finish his entire meal:O That's saying a lot!

Gotta love Northern Ontario drives

Beautiful lakes and exposed rock all along the way

Parked at Donna and Charlie's farm in Kaministiquia

The barn and sauna house

Drove into Thunder Bay: Mike and Grams at the LeGallais house

Justin and Dezi

The McNally - LeGallais clan!
When we weren't at the LeGallais house, or driving out to Lake Superior, we were hangin' at Donna and Charlie's farm in Sunshine

This is their perfect sauna house, with a sitting room entrance.

A change area...

and the sauna itself!

Mike, Jess (who's now living in the area and came to visit with us!) and I went for a stroll with the goats

Zoe doing a little workin' and weedin'

Look at adorable Axel!

He's not as sweet as he looks! "Stick 'em up, mama!"

Daddio hangin' with Uncle Crazy!

Look at this delicious picnic spread! (Thanks Donna!)

Mike, Jess, Dad, Grams and Uncle Crazy: The picnic has begun!

Beauty

It was so much fun driving out to Crystal Beach with Grams!

We found her old property!

And her old house: the house she helped build with her own two hands and where she raised Dad and Doug!

We also went walking with Grams to the Cascades!

A beautiful spot
So nice walking through the trails with Grams

...and soaking in the beautiful scenery!

Charlie, Dad, Mike and I went for brunch at the Hoito! Jess met us during her lunch break as well. So nice of her to make the time to meet up with us whenever she could! :)

Ahhh, the Sleeping Giant!

Aunt Joann took us to Kangas Sauna for lunch!

Visiting with Mark and Duff in the LeGallais garage

Mike definitely enjoyed checkin' out Duff's corvette!

It's quite the ride!

Love this photo of Mike simply enjoying the moment!

The moment Mike captured from afar: Grams, Dad and I soakin' up the sun on my birthday :)

Some good laughs!

The next morning we told them we had a pleasant stay, but it was time for us to be on our way, and then we began our drive to Winnipeg. We made a brief pit-stop in Upsala to say farewells to Donna too!
Winnipeg, in Mom's apartment: Her photo collection
Mom and Mike - We spent two full days with her.

We took her to Club Regent, and didn't spend a cent gambling. She had never been there before, and we knew she had to see the fish tank! She loved it! Who am I kidding, we all enjoyed it! The Copperhead Butterflyfish were the most fun

We had a nice dinner, said so long to the fishies, and the next morning, after a big breakfast with Mom, said our farewells to my mom as well.

A prairie sunset
We continued to ramble on singing our songs across Canada. We stopped in Saskatoon and Edmonton (where we stayed a little longer and did some shopping:) We were oh so happy to make it to our hotel room after an 11 hour drive to Fort Nelson! We stayed at so many hotels on this trip that we qualified for a free room from Hotels.com - executive! ;)
We began to discuss how free we felt during most of this adventure! Freedom is something we both hold dear, so maybe we'll do a similar trip next year!

Then continued to ramble on north!

We were thankful for such a smooth and memorable trip, but knew we had to make it back before leaves started falling all around.

As usual, we met up with the bison herd outside of Liard.

They were quite bold. Impressive beasts! Some refused to move off the road, so vehicles had to take turns driving around them! :O Good drivin' honeybuns!

We finally made it back to the Yukon. This is my early morning walk in Watson Lake... with Deja!!! - She met us here when we arrived in Watson! Of course she was accompanied by Judy (who drove in from Whitehorse) and Chester (who was working there at the time). They always take such good care of Deja when we travel. (THANKS so much you two!) It was so nice to see all three of them and to feel like we were back home again!
