My mom arrived in Whitehorse for the first time on Sunday, August 7th, 2011! |
I couldn't believe that she was actually standing in my home, |
hugging and... |
goofin' around with my hubby! |
She was also able to visit with Jay and Josh... |
for a couple days before they left for the Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops! |
Mike on the telephone! |
We got mom into the hot tub, |
which was a great idea! |
On August 14th, I woke up to balloons! Mom had decorated for my birthday! |
Josh and Jay returned that evening, and we had a relaxing Boston Pizza dinner at home while the kids filled us in on all the details of their WCG adventures! |
Josh and Jay modelling their Team Yukon and traded Team Manitoba gear from the games |
Josh played a little ditty on the guitar |
Mom took over and played "Happy Birthday" and then, one of my favourites, "Russian Lullaby"! |
I sang along with her! |
I love watching and |
listening to my mom play guitar and sing! |
My favourite part of the evening was playing guitar with my mom! |
It's amazing that so much time can pass by, and we can still finger pick in unison! (We had a little more difficulty with the high five.) |
Our second stroll along the Millennium Trail: It began beautifully! |
Mom and Deja on the bridge over the Yukon River, not far from the dam |
The two of us beside the Yukon River |
Mom looked through photo albums |
while Mike and Josh worked on the brakes of Josh's first car! |
Mom and me |
Mom out on the little deck in the rain |
The two of us trying to stay dry |
Judy and my mom |
Good-byes at the airport! (Mom made it home safely!) |
Chelsea and Mike, We are soooo happy that your mother was able to be here in the Yukon to be with you and your family. It was great to finally meet her. It was fun sharing memories of our past and hopefully there will be another time, now that she has made this first trip. Awesome that she was able to celebrate your birthday with you too!!! Sorry about the weather Bernadette, but honestly it normally isn't soooooooo rainy here in the Yukon. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Love from Judy
